Free Lifetime Powertrain Warranty - Our Exclusive!

Lifetime Powertrain Warranty, free on every new Subaru and Kia at Premier

At every Premier Auto Group store, we take the manufacturer's factory powertrain warranty on your new Subaru or Kia and make it last for as long as you own your car. No mileage limit, no time limit, no deductible, and no extra charge. Keep up with the factory maintenance schedule at any ASE-certified shop in the country and your coverage stays in force.

Your engine is still covered at mile 312,847.

And at 400,000. Coverage ends only when you sell or trade the car.

Six terms that set this warranty apart

Plenty of dealers advertise a "lifetime" or long-term powertrain warranty. The value is in the contract terms. Here are ours, in writing.

Unlimited time
Covered parts are protected for as long as you own the vehicle, whether that's 5, 10 or 20 years.
Unlimited miles
No 100,000-mile cutoff. Covered parts are still covered at 200,000 miles and beyond.
$0 deductible
When a covered part fails, the warranty pays the full cost to repair or replace it.
No claim limit
If a covered part fails at 100,000 miles and again at 200,000 miles, both repairs are covered.
No per-part dollar cap
Many lifetime programs cap what they'll pay per component. Ours doesn't list one.
Nationwide, any ASE shop
Honored at any ASE-certified repair facility in the United States, and backed by Zurich Insurance Group.

Where powertrain coverage usually ends, and where ours doesn't

Subaru and Kia both back their vehicles with solid factory powertrain warranties. Both still end, and they end right around the mileage when major powertrain repairs become more likely.

A driver who puts 12,000 miles a year on a new car passes 60,000 miles in five years and 100,000 in a little over eight. That's where factory coverage stops and ours keeps going.

What a powertrain failure costs without coverage

The engine, transmission and drivetrain are the most expensive systems on any vehicle to repair. They're also the parts that wear the longest, so failures tend to show up after the factory warranty has expired.

With the Premier Lifetime Powertrain Warranty, a covered repair costs you nothing out of pocket, whether it happens at 80,000 miles or 280,000.

Covered repairTypical costYour cost
Engine replacementParts and labor$4,500 – $9,000+$0
Transmission replacementAutomatic, CVT, IVT or DCT, parts and labor$3,500 – $7,500$0
TurbochargerFactory-installed units$2,000 – $4,500$0
Drive axle and differentialAxle shafts, CV joints, bearings$1,000 – $4,000$0

Typical costs are estimated industry ranges for parts and labor and vary by model, year and repair facility. Your cost of $0 applies to covered components under the terms of the warranty contract.

"We worked several years with one of the largest insurance companies in the world to build a lifetime powertrain warranty that's more than a piece of paper or a marketing gimmick."

Lifetime Powertrain Warranty questions and answers

Straight answers to the questions shoppers ask us most.

Is the Lifetime Powertrain Warranty really free?

Yes. It's included with every new Subaru and Kia purchased at a Premier Auto Group store at no additional charge. It is not an add-on product or an extended service contract you're asked to buy in the finance office.

How long does the coverage last?

For as long as you own the vehicle. There's no expiration date. Coverage ends when ownership of the vehicle transfers to someone else.

Is there a mileage limit?

No. Covered components are still covered at 100,000, 200,000 or 300,000 miles and beyond.

Is there a deductible?

No. The deductible is $0. If a covered component fails, the warranty covers the full cost to repair or replace it.

Is there a limit on the number of claims or the amount paid per repair?

There's no limit on the number of claims, and there's no dollar maximum listed per covered component. If the same covered part fails at 100,000 miles and again at 200,000 miles, both repairs are covered.

Do I have to bring my car to a Premier store for maintenance?

No. You need to follow the manufacturer's recommended maintenance schedule, but you can have that work done at any ASE-certified facility. Keep your receipts as proof of maintenance. We'd be glad to be your service center, but it isn't a requirement.

Where can covered repairs be done?

At any ASE-certified repair facility in the United States. If you move out of Connecticut or break down on a road trip, your coverage goes with you.

Who backs the warranty?

The Premier Lifetime Powertrain Warranty is backed by Zurich Insurance Group, one of the largest insurance companies in the world, with more than $400 billion in assets.

Which Premier stores include the warranty?

All of them. The Lifetime Powertrain Warranty comes with new vehicles purchased at Premier Subaru in Branford, Premier Kia in Branford and Premier Subaru Middlebury. The coverage and terms are the same at every store.

Which models are eligible?

New gas and hybrid Subaru and Kia models, including the Subaru Ascent, BRZ, Crosstrek, Forester, Impreza, Outback and WRX, and the Kia K4, K5, Seltos, Sportage, Sorento, Telluride, Carnival and Niro. Battery-electric Subaru models such as the Solterra are excluded. For Kia electric models and VinFast vehicles, ask us to confirm eligibility on the model you're considering.

How is this different from the factory powertrain warranty?

Subaru's factory powertrain warranty covers 5 years or 60,000 miles, and Kia's covers the original owner for 10 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first in each case. The Premier Lifetime Powertrain Warranty takes that factory coverage and extends it for as long as you own the car, with no mileage limit.

How does it compare to other dealers' long-term warranties?

Many dealer programs end at a set number of years or miles, charge a deductible, or cap what they'll pay per component. The Premier warranty has no time or mileage limit, a $0 deductible, no claim limit and no per-part dollar cap. Ask any dealer to show you those terms in their contract.

What extra benefits are included?

The warranty includes rental reimbursement, trip interruption coverage and emergency roadside assistance, all for as long as you own your car. Your warranty documents list the full details.

Is this the same as an extended warranty?

No. Extended service contracts are sold separately and usually cover more of the vehicle for a set term. The Lifetime Powertrain Warranty is included free and focuses on the engine, transmission, transfer case and drive axle for as long as you own the car. Ask us if you'd like to compare the two.

Is the warranty included if I lease?

At Premier Kia, yes: the warranty comes with a new Kia whether you buy or lease. For a Subaru lease, ask your Premier Subaru store for current program details.
